TruSoft Insulation was suggested for these exterior walls in order to make the home more comfortable for the homeowners. The interior of the walls were finished so this solution was the best way to keep the home in the original finished condition while still being able to add insulation to the walls.

In Endicott NY, there is a happy couple that just had a job completed by Foam It Insulation. This couple was expecting us to come out, scribble some notes and rattle off some large number for exactly the work that they asked for. Then 6 months, 1 year, 2 years down the road they will start to find that their problems were not solved. They were simply covered up for some time. Now we took them by surprise. We not only came at exactly the time and date that we were scheduled to come out, we called on the way just to let them know that we would be there right on time. We then proceeded to do a full evaluation of their home from top to bottom. We do this so that we uncover any issues that the homeowners might not know about. We may even come across a health and safety concern that could be potentially lethal like a gas leak. In this home specifically, we did a walk through and discovered something not very surprising for a home in this area. THERE WAS OLD, POORLY INSTALLED FIBERGLASS IN THEIR ATTIC! This insulation was not only thrown around in the attic in a haphazard way, there was also piles of sawdust and felt paper being used as makeshift insulation. And to no surprise to us, there were no air sealing measures completed in the attic. Now we couldn't leave this homeowner in the predicament that they were in but obviously they were having a problem and that is why they called. We proposed to insulate their attic using a combination of spray foam insulation and TruSoft Insulation. To prepare for the job, we laid plastic down everywhere. This home was spotless and we intend to leave each home cleaner than it was when we arrived. This policy we have employed has received so much positive feedback that we will never change. So after the prep work was completed we began the insulation process. In total this project took two days as do most of our large jobs. The homeowner had moved a lot of furniture and shelving units around for us to do the work as well and when we were done, instead of leaving all of their stuff for them to move again, we moved all of it for them and put their home back to the way it was. All of this work may seem tough and not worth it but it is very worth it to Foam It Insulation as a team and as a company because now this homeowner has a chance to be much more comfortable.

David is the father in law of one of our Foam It employees!  His home in Castle Creek was in need of a serious insulation upgrade. After the comprehensive home energy audit was concluded by our home comfort advisor John Polkowski, David was made aware of the areas in the home that most needed help. In the upper level of the home, the attic, situated over the stairwell to the 2nd floor lacked adequate insulation, John's recommendation was to open blow 12" of our cellulose insulation in this attic, along with that John made the recommendation to dense pack 2 slopes that were on both sides of the second floor. During the evaluation John found a second attic over the first floor that was accessed from a closet. A work around was needed for this section as David still wanted to use this attic for storage purposes. The crew was able to install a storage deck using foam board and OSB which allowed David to store personal belongings and still have the attic be insulated. We finished off this attic by adding 12" of cellulose around the storage deck.

The insulation upgrade in the attic made an immediate impact in the home as the conditioned air was no longer escaping through the attic. This itself was enough to improve the home comfort and energy efficiency but there was still work to be done. When examining the basement of the home, John found the foundation walls completely empty of any insulation, John proposed to add 2" of our closed foam to the rim joist and foundation walls. With this David was sure to see an reduced energy bills and have a comfortable home year round!

Wayne, who lives in a older ranch style home from the lates 1800s in Glen Aubrey called Foam It Insulation in an effort to make his home more comfortable year-round. After booking an appointment, Home comfort advisor Jim Wallace went out to perform a comprehensive home energy evaluation.

During the evaluation Jim found the attic could use insulation work. Although there was existing fiberglass insulation in the space, its condition was not adequate to retain the conditioned air. After further inspection he found that underneath the fiberglass there were protrusions where air was leaking. Jim proposed to have the area underneath properly air sealed then top it of with 12" of cellulose over the existing fiberglass.  During his inspection of the walls he found that they contained too much fiberglass for us to be able to dense pack so no work could be done there.

After this he moved down to the basement for inspection. This area had the most space for work to be done. Jim first proposed to install 2" of spray foam insulation to the rim joist and 4" to the foundation walls. Then finish it off with fire resistant paint. This in combination with the attic work will not only give Wayne the year round comfort he desires but will also improve the energy efficiency of the home!
