Binghamton, NY Insulating Basement Walls with Spray Foam

Simple block walls can be much more difficult to insulate. There are many gaps and cracks that can be hard to get to. That is why we recommend spray foam insulation in this instance because it will fill all those hard to reach gaps and cracks and will also fill in all the porous areas of the block wall. All in all it makes the entire basement much more comfortable and that's what matters. As a bonus it also aides in mold protection.

Binghamton, NY Insulating Interior Walls with Spray Foam Insulation

Insulating interior walls is not usually how we insulate pre-existing homes. Usually there is drywall and paint up and furniture that would have to be moved. It's just a lot of extra work and cost to the homeowner so we will always suggest insulating from the outside when using TruSoft Cellulose. But when were using spray foam insulation, insulating from the outside is not an option. Sometimes the homeowners will already have the walls open for us due to other renovation projects or they will go through the long process of reopening the walls for us. Any way you put it, the end result comes out perfectly. The homeowners have a home with a higher resale value and they also get to thoroughly enjoy the rest of their time spent in their home. In the summer they will be able to stay cool and in the winter they will be able to trap the heat in the home much better.

Binghamton, NY Open Blowing the Attic Flat

This attic was insulated previously with Fiberglass batts. Unfortunately, pests such as mice enjoy them for nesting purposes. Fiberglass also does not stop the air flow, but tends to act more like a filter which causes it to be dirty (much like a furnace filter) as you can see below.

When we blew in the TruSoft cellulose insulation, we air sealed the air leaks in the roof first, making sure that the leaks that were bringing in the air previously were no longer a concern. Then, we blew in several inches of our cellulose insulation which is mixed with borate - a natural element found in the Earth that deters pests from using it to make nests. Borate is also a natural fire retardant giving homeowners an extra piece of mind.
