Foam It Insulation Before & After Photos

These homeowners in Johnson City, NY wanted to improve on the comfortability of their home as they had just had their second child. 

First, we set to work on the attic. The homeowners wanted to be able to keep using some of the space for storage, so we built a storage deck for them. We air sealed the attic space - sealing gaps, cracks, wire penetrations, and around light fixtures to ensure a tight seal. We built dams out of foam board to ensure the open blown cellulose insulation doesn't get on to the storage deck. We did an open blow of 12 inches of our cellulose insulation. We also had a rear attic with no access that was built along with an addition. We created access and did an open blow of 12 inches of cellulose as well in this attic space. We also custom built a hatch cover for the staircase to access the attic so there is a tight seal. 

The home also has aluminum siding, and we wanted to dense pack the walls with cellulose insulation. We carefully removed the siding and drilled the necessary holes in order to get our hose to dense pack our cellulose insulation into the walls of the home. We then dense packed the wall cavities, plugged the holes with cedar wood plugs, sealed around them and carefully replaced the siding again. We also spray foamed the rim joists of the home with 2 inches of our Closed Cell Spray Foam. Beneath the addition, there is a crawl space. We laid our 6 mil poly down and spray foamed 2 inches of our Closed Cell Spray Foam to the walls to adhere the poly to the sides as a vapor barrier for the crawl space.

For the basement, we installed our Basement To Beautiful panels on all the outside walls of the basement so the basement is well insulated with our SilverGlo panels. 

This home is now much tighter, and more energy efficient and will save these homeowners in their fuel and energy bills. 

This Johnson City, NY homeowner owned a rental property that he wanted to ensure had a good amount of insulation to help keep energy costs down. This brick building had no insulation in the walls, and needed to be dense packed. The only way to do this was to do it from inside, which was done with the homeowner's permission. 

We sprayed the rim joists of the home with 2 inches of our Closed Cell spray foam, as well as 2 inches of foam on the foundation walls. For the dense packing of the walls, we drilled our holes just big enough to fit our hose in to fill in the wall cavities, we then plugged the holes with cedar wood plugs, sealed them and then spackled over the holes for the homeowner to finish. We then insulated the attic flat. We began by air sealing the attic - sealing any gaps, cracks, top plates, wire penetrations and around light fixtures - then we did an open blow of 14 inches of cellulose insulation to the attic flat. 

These Johnson City homeowners were experiencing very cold floors in the winter and a very hot home in the summer time. The Home Comfort Evaluation that was done showed very little insulation in the home - as there was an inch of very old insulation in the attic space, with no insulation in the walls or rim joists.

For this project, we began by air sealing the attic. This meant sealing gaps, cracks, around wire penetrations and top plates. We then did an open blow of 14 inches of Cellulose insulation to the attic flat. We also dense packed the walls of the home with cellulose insulation and sprayed 2 inches of closed cell spray foam to the rim joists.

This homeowner in Johnson City, NY wanted to improve their insulation in the attic, so they gave us a call to do an energy assessment. After seeing that they were losing a lot of heat throughout the home, they decided to do something about it.

We proposed to spray foam the roof deck of the attic, sealing gaps and cracks where air was escaping and to dense pack the walls of the home with cellulose insulation. After carefully removing the siding, we drilled holes just slightly larger than our hoses to ensure room to work with. Once each drilled cavity was filled with cellulose, they were sealed with wooden plugs and the siding was replaced just as carefully as it was removed. 

This homeowner in Johnson City wanted to see what could be done to improve the overall comfort of the home, while helping to lessen the utility bills. The homeowner called us to do a Home Comfort Evaluation to see what the needs of the home were. 

The home had very little insulation in the walls, and the crawlspace needed to be addressed as well. Through the NYSERDA Empower program, we were able to assist this homeowner in achieving a more comfortable home. 

Our crew began in the crawlspace, we sprayed two inches of our closed cell spray foam into the rim joists, then used laid down a vapor barrier to the crawlspace floor before adhering the vapor barrier to the wall of the crawlspace with two inches of closed cell spray foam. The crew then focused on the exterior walls of the home. They carefully removed the siding from the home, drilled holes just bigger than our hoses and then dense packed the walls with cellulose insulation. Once each hole was packed, they sealed the hole with one part foam, then plugged them with cedar wood plugs before replacing the siding as carefully as they had removed it - to look at the home from the outside, you'd never know we'd done the work!
